The Philadelphia Eagles may get a lift to their secondary within the coming weeks.

They’ve opened the 21-day follow window for cornerback Jakorian Bennett and signed guard Sua Opeta to the follow squad.

It’s unlikely both will play in opposition to the New York Giants in Week 8.

When prepared, Bennett may put some stress on fellow cornerbacks Kelee Ringo and Adoree’ Jackson.

The truth that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio didn’t rule Bennett out in opposition to New York speaks volumes about how he might really feel about his struggling secondary.

Cooper DeJean continues to be locked in as a respectable star, and Quinyon Mitchell has achieved an awesome job at nickel, however that hasn’t been the case with Jackson and Ringo.

Now, with Bennett, they may have a respectable alternative to make adjustments.

As for Opeta, he’s accustomed to the group and may present some depth if wanted.

He spent the earlier season on injured reserve with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and re-signed with them earlier this season.

He frolicked on the follow squad earlier than being launched this month.

The Eagles’ offensive line has handled accidents this season, with Landon Dickerson, Lane Johnson, Tyler Steen and Cam Jurgens all just a little banged up.

So, whereas Opeta is perhaps nothing greater than an insurance coverage coverage, he could be a plug-and-play man as properly, given his expertise with the scheme and the personnel.
