For weeks now, fans and analysts have speculated about the future of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The team hasn’t lived up to expectations, and renowned insiders claimed that a loss to the Detroit Lions would lead to a regime change.
That hasn’t been the case so far, but with the Jaguars losing 52-6, It may only be a matter of time before that happens.
Should that be the case, they might have found a replacement already at head coach.
According to a report by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Jaguars might be interested in hiring Bill Belichick (Via Savage Sports).
REPORT:
Bill Belichick could consider coaching the Jacksonville Jaguars next season because they can offer him something no other franchise would.
Total control.
Bill could be the head coach and GM of the Jaguars.
As crazy as that may seem, the Jaguars can offer Belichick something no other team might be able or willing to, which is total control.
The Jaguars are expected to part ways with GM Trent Baalke as well.
Belichick spent years as the New England Patriots’ head coach and decision-maker, and he’s the kind of coach who likes to prepare a dish and do the shopping.
It’s not usual to see head coaches also serve as general managers anymore; perhaps that is the main reason Belichick didn’t get a job in this hiring cycle.
But with Belichick still chasing Don Shula’s record and the Jaguars desperate to turn things around and make the most of their talented roster, this might be a match made in heaven.
Of course, they still need to fire Pederson and Baalke, and Belichick likely won’t take the reins mid-season, so this will be a story to watch closely.
